We got to go twice this year- once with Kade's preschool class, and once again with just us three. Jer and Kade get the easy job of choosing a design, and I somehow got assigned the harder task of designing it and carving it. How did that happen? Seriously, I don't know!
I am getting a little more adventurous with it year after year. In the past I have done the normal jack-o-lantern faces, a bat in front of a full moon, an owl, a monster, "ABC", stars, and a zombie. This year, Kade wanted a cat- not surprising, since he asks if we can get a cat every single day! That was easy enough. Then Jer found all these pictures of amazing Star Wars pumpkins, and was like, "do that!"
At least he has faith in my pumpkin carving skills! I found a storm trooper picture online that was easy enough to re-create on my pumpkin. Not sure that anyone would know what it is, though, unless they were into Star Wars. Otherwise, it's just a bald, pupil-less monster with a unibrow, mustache, bad teeth, gills, and humongous dimples. Pretty scary, right?

"I'm being winded!!!"
That's Kade speak for "I'm being blown away!" and quite literally, he almost did get blown away! Here is a small collection of photos from our recent trip to the Space Needle and Seattle Science Center.
The view from the other side of the Space Needle- typical cloudy dreary Seattle weather!
This is the only picture of me! Should have brought a hair band...
Right when you go around the curve in a certain spot, it goes from calm to windy. That's why the guy in the background doesn't seem to be having any trouble, while Jer and Kade look like they are in the umbrella scene from Mary Poppins. Also, Jer might be exaggerating a tiny bit (not much, tho!)...
No exaggerating here!! Kade really didn't care about the great view, he just loved the feeling of having to lean forward at a 45 degree angle in order to not fly backwards! The wind was really so strong that it was hard to breathe!
My favorite butterfly from the Science Center.I loved the striped furry body! Look at the eyes! The tongue!
"T-Rex has such stinky breath... wait...he's right behind me, isn't he..."
"King me?"
I wasn't trying to take a cool crooked artsy photo or anything, I just had to turn my camera that way to get the whole building in!
The view of the Sound with a cargo ferry coming in.

Mimi.
Once there was a bear who was in the back seat.
He started licking the seatbelt, going,
"NOM NOM NOM NOM."
(There was honey on it from the boys sandwich.)
The little kid said, "aaaaahhhhhhh!! Oh, gosh!"
and ran and ran and ran across the street.
He ran across the river
and up to the woods and back again.
"Oh my gosh!" He said.
Then he saw the bear was just a costume.
"Oh, gosh,
this is not a thing of danger!
It's just Mimi!"
the little boy said.
And this is the story of how I met Mimi.*
The end.**
*Mimi is what Kade calls his two fingers.... sometimes Mimi comes to visit, sometimes he's gone. He takes over Kade's fingers. He loves to tell jokes. He loves dressing up in his bear costume. Once in a while he fights with Kade and I have to separate them. Yeah.
